Mutale Nalumango UPND Vice President
Mrs Nalumango polled 2,051 votes, the highest number of votes among the 70 members of the National Management Committee at the just ended UPND convention.
Mrs. Nalumango was until her new appointment UPND National Chairperson and becomes the first female to be appointed UPND Vice President.
Prior to joining the UPND, Mrs Nalumango served as a Cabinet Minister and the first female deputy speaker in the National Assembly under the MMD regime.
Speaking at a media briefing today, Mr. Hichilema said his party wants to demonstrate that it is capable of uniting the country and restore dignity amongst the people.
The UPND Leader said he despises any talk that promotes people to positions based on their ethnic origin.
And Mrs. Nalumango who accepted her appointment pledged to serve diligently and ensure that Zambia is redeemed from bad leadership.
